March 18, 2017 Homemade Pizza
Tonight I made homemade pizza for dinner. I ended up making a tomato, basil and mozzarella pie. Here is the ingredients and recipe I used for the dough.
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup of water
- 1 package of rapid rise yeast
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
Mix water, yeast and sugar in a bowl and let stand for 10 minutes. Once yeast has had a chance to activate mix it together with flour, olive oil and salt in a mixer, or mix it by hand. The consistency of the dough should be slightly sticky and smooth to the touch.
Place dough in a bowl and cover it with a towel. Let it set for 25 to 30 minutes while you prep your ingredients that will go on your pizza.
Lightly dust your counter space with flour. knead the dough to get the air out of it. Then, with a rolling pin, roll out the dough. Place it on a pizza stone or pizza pan and top it with your favorite toppings and that is it.
